On average a new restaurant opens every two days in London. The food scene in the city is booming. Walk through Soho or Shoreditch any night of the week, and you’ll pass restaurant after restaurant each with a snaking queue. People eat out more and demand more of their restaurants. Similarly, the diversity of menus and geographic regions is unparalleled. Here we’ve explored some of our favorite restaurants new and old offering exciting and unexpected menus across the city.
Latin American food with a fine dining edge—you’ll find the menu is influenced by cuisine ranging from Peruvian, Mexican, Brazilian and Argentinian—even a hint of Asian flavors. Set in the heart of Kensington, Zuaya was created by Spanish twins Alberto and Arian Zandi, and it’s fun, fresh and undeniably inventive. They offer a set menu at two different prices but a la carte is the best way to try the depth of flavours and dishes. The black squid taco served with basil chimichurri, fried Peruvian potatoes and dried capers and the Tamarind pork belly is just the right mix of savoury and sweet.
